Meet Kay

Live+Behealthy Solutions was founded by Kay Kelly. Kay is a Registered Nurse of almost 30 years, Board Certified in Patient Advocacy as well as a Certified Natural Health Practitioner. Kay is a PROUD mother of three, four when counting their Labrador Brody. She is the youngest of five siblings and Aunt to fourteen nieces and nephews. Throughout her career her experience has been with pediatric and adult patients both, in various medical areas consisting of Adult+Pediatric Emergency Services, Adult+Pediatric Hematology+Oncology, Pediatric Surgical Specialties, Community Health and Discharge Support with the latter part of her career spent with the Post-Acute Infusion Therapy+Transitional Care Teams as a Clinical Nurse Liaison. During her years as a Registered Nurse, Kay often found her patients and families increasingly confused, frustrated, feeling overwhelmed and unheard due to a very noticeable breakdown in communication between healthcare providers, patients, and their families. Realizing the necessity to advocate for her patient at the bedside, Kay committed to ensuring each patient had a voice that was heard, and each patient was empowered with the knowledge, tools and resources necessary to successfully navigate across their care-continuum. Eventually, this would lead to the idea of launching her own independent advocacy practice allowing her the ability to continue honoring her commitment to the patient and their family, well beyond the bedside.

It wasn’t until Kay experienced the healthcare system personally as an advocate for her mother that she understood first hand the disconnect between provider and patient. Kay quickly became the primary advocate and liaison between the healthcare team and her family members, leaving her feeling exhausted after spending months, weeks, days and hours making phone calls trying to get needed care, attempting to speak to and/or meet with members of her care team, coordinating and scheduling post acute services and transitional care to the best of her ability, all while trying to resolve billing and insurance discrepancies. Kay could only then imagine what it must be like to experience the medical system without a healthcare background and just how important having an expert advocate by your side provides a peace of mind knowing you are not alone!

After the passing of Kay’s dear mother she was then more than ever, determined and committed to pursue her passion of patient advocacy. Shortly after….Live+Behealthy Solutions was born!
